Trinity's world changed forever the day she stole Emmy's egg. Now she's on the run with the last living dragon and twin brothers from a war-torn future. Connor may have betrayed his mission to kill Emmy, but he'll do whatever it takes to prevent the coming dragon apocalypse. Coddling a temperamental dragon on its way to being the size of a house is no way to keep them safe. But Caleb can't stand to see Emmy trapped and miserable.

When a video of Emmy flying over the skies of the Texas Hill Country goes viral, the government closes in--and the future they've risked everything for is about to go up in flames.

I did a re-read of Scorched just to familiarize myself with this world again right before diving into Shattered. I am not going to lie, I am sucker for anything with dragons in it.

I liked Shattered for the most part. It picks up a couple days after where Scorched left off. Trinity, her two bodyguards from the future, and her grandpa are still on the run and holed up in an abandoned farm house. With the addition of a new character called Scarlett whom just happens to run into Emmy, the last dragon on earth, and Scarlett ends up taking a video of Emmy healing her. Scarlett of course up loads this video to You Tube, because that is what you do. Emmy with the help of Scarlett decides to up the ante, escapes and goes to a football game. Of course, the world is not ready for a dragons, unlike me, and now Emmy and Trinity are on the most wanted list.

Things just snow ball from there. Caleb, the brother sent back to save Emmy, is now an addict and can barely function. Connor, the brother sent back to kill Emmy, is head of heals for Trinity. Things are getting awkward. I did like the addition of the new character Scarlett because she is kind of introduced as a potential love connection for Caleb. Scarlett knows what it is like to be an addict, her own brother was one. Scarlett loves Emmy and is not going to give up on Caleb. I did like that aspect of the book because like Trinity feels, who wants their love life to be reminiscent of a teen vampire romance.

About half way through something terrible happens to the group and Trinity goes off on her own to find her long lost dad. She is running around, Caleb gets kidnapped along with Scarlett and so Connor is running around. That was a bit annoying and kind of boring in some parts with everyone split up and running around well, like the end of the world is on the line. The middle of book was not that strong for me. I found myself getting kind restless for it to move on.

I have to say, while these book are cheesy and entertaining, it’s the cliff hanger endings and dragons that keep me coming back for more. I am giving Shattered 3.5 stars and rounding up to four because that ending was really good and now I must find out what is in store for Emmy, the dragon, and her friends. They left me hanging especially after the final scene and now I feel like I did at the end of season four of The Walking Dead. How will I make it until the next book?
