I know I have said this before but I have become a big fan of the Hard Ink series. I like that each book focuses on one guy in the team but is just a piece in the overall story line of the series. In Hard to Come By the focus is Marz. I have liked Marz since the first book because he is easy going guy that will lay down his life to protect the ones he loves. I also like Marz because I don’t know while he can get emotional there is nothing emo about him. Plus, I… Read more »

I liked this short story in the Hard Ink Series. It was sweet and it was it also like a nice reprieve in the overall story line. The series is about five men who are ex-military Special Forces. In the first book the daughter of commander who betrayed them and cost them their careers shows up asking for help. The five guys plus some extra friends band back together to find help the daughter while clearing their name. The story line is kind of like A-Team meets a romance novel. This short is all about Easy. He starts having feelings… Read more »

I must confess this book was a second chance read.  I started reading this book earlier this year and I don’t know why but I didn’t finish it.  I saw that there was audiobook and decided to give it another go.  I am glad I did because I ended quite liking this book.  The Falconer was full of action, angst and even some kissing.  It had everything I was looking for in a fantasy story.   The story is about is young Scottish woman named Aileana Kameron set in an alternative history in 1844.  Aileana had witnessed the death of… Read more »

I saw this book as recommended reading on Amazon a few month ago. I thought this book looked interesting but was something I might listen to or read when I had nothing better to do. I was kind of surprised in a good way when I saw the audiobook available on Audible. I have to tell you I went into this book interested but I did have low expectations. I have to say in the end I am glad I gave The Book of Ivy a shot because I ended up really liking it. I liked The Book of Ivy… Read more »

I first starting reading this book when I got it from Edelweiss and I thought just ok. I sat it to the side because I knew this was going to be something I was going to have to listen to the audiobook. The beginning of this book is setup and full of some technical jargon plus it is kind of confusing with all the jumping around. I am glad I gave this book another shot because once I finished listening to it I am now hooked. The best way I can describe A Thousand Pieces of You is to compare… Read more »

First, I have to say that I am a big fan of Gail Carriger and the world she has created. I was first introduced to this world in Soulless, an adult novel, and liked it so much that I had to start reading about the world of Victorian Paranormal Steampunk through the eyes of a young lady in training. I have to say that I have liked every Finishing School story I have read, and Waistcoats and Weaponry is no exception. The thing I like most about these books is that Soulless and Finishing School books can be read together… Read more »

Since it is the season for all things creepy, with Halloween right around the corner, I could not help but put my two cents in on the Mara Dyer bandwagon because I will be reading The Retribution of Mara Dyer next week. I am in so much like with all things Mara and Noah right now. I could not put this book down it was just that good. I started the audiobook at work and had the book read at home that night.  I can hardly contain myself even though I just have to wait five more days for the thrilling… Read more »

I finished this book a few days before I started writing this review. Why have I waited to write the review? I actually don’t like writing bad reviews and I was trying to think if I could find anything redeeming in this book that would raise my original assessment from a two star rating to a three star. No, I wasn’t able to think of anything that might make me think The Wicked We Have Done is an okay book and makes want to read more stories in The Chaos Theory world. Others might disagree and for them this book… Read more »

[Audiobook Review] Firebug by Lish McBride

Keeping with this month’s theme, I picked up Firebug because I knew it contained creatures that go bump in the night. I liked the first chapter so much that I didn’t want to have to put it down that I got the audiobook to keep the fun going. Firebug for me is one of those rare treats, in that it is a Young Adult Urban Fantasy. It was like Jennifer Estep and Kirsten White got together to write a book. I liked the combination of the street savvy teens mixed in with lighthearted moments as well. Firebug is about Ava… Read more »
