Over the years I have become a big Jennifer Estep fan. I love her Spider Elemental series. I love to read Young Adult novels as well. It seemed like a perfect match when Jennifer Estep’s Cold Burn of Magic the first book in the Black Blade series came out. I liked the first book it did a good of job of setting the story up and still that keeping that urban fantasy feel. If it is possible I liked Dark Heart of Magic even more, the second book in the Black Blade series. I like Jennifer Estep’s urban fantasy books,… Read more »

[ARC Review] Walk Through Fire by Kristen Ashley

This year I have become a big fan of Kristen Ashley. I love the men and women that make up the world of Chaos MC. That being said, I liked Walk Through Fire but I didn’t love it. It did take me a while to get through this book because while liked Millie and High’s story I just didn’t connect with it the way I did with the story in Ride Steady. I think what kept this book from dropping below four stars is that cast of supporting characters I have come to love so much. I love the antics… Read more »

[ARC Review] Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin

I read this book as part of the Dewey’s 24hr readathon. Wolf by Wolf is so fascinating that it didn’t feel like I was reading it as part of a challenge. It was easy to read this book in one day. I love the question the author says she asked herself, the afterward, on coming up with this book’s concept, “What if…?” What if, is definitely what Wolf by Wolf is all about. What if Germany and Japan won the WWII? What if Third Reich ruled most of Eastern Hemisphere? Therefore, Hitler would need to die. I think most of… Read more »

I am just going to keep this review short and sweet because I loved this book so much it will just end up being one jumbled mess of fangirl emotions.   When I got approved to read Illuminae I was so excited. I had to read it right it away. I had seen on the all the five star ratings and the big push for the book at San Diego Comic Con. I wanted to see for myself what all the hype was about. Was this book about a girl and a boy that break up the day before and… Read more »

[ARC Review] A Madness so Discreet by Mindy McGinnis

I am in so much like with this book I don’t even know where to begin. A Madness so Discreet disguises it’s story line almost like any other Sherlock re-retelling. An assistant with a past full of demons. A cocky man using science and deduction to solve murder cases. But, this book is so much more than murder cases and solving crimes. It is a book about finding a safe place in a crazy world. It is a book about justice. Most of all it is a book that really questions what it means to be insane.   A Madness… Read more »

[ARC Review] All the Ways to Ruin a Rogue by Sophie Jordan

I read the first book in this series last year and I adored it. I don’t know what happened because I was sure I would love watching the Aurelia and Max fall in love because I loved their bickering in A Good Debutante’s Guide to Ruin. If love is a battlefield then All the Ways to Ruin a Rogue felt like it was ripe with land mines. One minute the couple is fighting, then next they are kissing, then they are fighting again, then next they not speaking to each other, then they are kissing again and on and on… Read more »

[ARC Review] Dragon Fall by Katie MacAlister

I am big fan of Katie MacAlister’s world of dragons since I read You Slay Me. I knew I would like the world of Dragon Fall but I think the ending fell a little flat.  I am giving Dragon Fall three stars because I liked it well enough. Dragon Fall is the love story for Drake’s brother, the love interest in You Slay Me, Kostya. Kostya has was held hostage for many years, then fell in lust with a naiad, and she left him for another male. Now a curse has fallen over the dragon clans. Kostya wakes up naked in with… Read more »

[ARC Review] Rebel Mechanics by Shanna Swendson

Sometimes I am in the mood for some light and entertaining reading. Rebel Mechanics fulfilled my wishes in that regard. I started this book at work and had it read by the time I went to bed that night. I am giving Rebel Mechanics four stars because I really liked the world of magic and mechanics. It was a quick, fun and very entertaining read. Rebel Mechanics is set in the year 1888 in New York City. This is not the New York City one would know from the history books. America is still a colony of the British Empire,… Read more »

[ARC Review] A Million Miles Away by Lara Avery

I liked parts of this book but there were parts I didn’t like. It wasn’t the best book I have read or the worst. It was just okay. I think I was just looking for something a little bit more. I am giving A Million Miles Away three stars and it was just a meh and shrug kind of book.     I know I am going to say this and shocker when I say it but I wish there was a bit more angst. A bit more drama. The girl pretended to be her dead twin sister for almost… Read more »

[ARC Review] Ride Steady by Kristen Ashley

I liked the other Chaos books. I freaking loved this book!!!  This review is going to be short and sweet because otherwise it will be nothing but a jumbled mess of my love for this book.  I am giving this book five stars because I want to sing its praises. Ride Steady became a favorite because it is so sweet and genuine. I loved the relationship between Carissa and Joker. He could have gone down a bad road growing up with a dad that abused him and it took a couple of years but he got his act together joined one of the good… Read more »
