Sophie Kinsella meets Jennifer Crusie in your next favorite romantic comedy, THE REAL DEAL!

April Hamilton wants you to know she hasn’t been on Craigslist since that time she sold her futon after college. She doesn’t even spend that much time online. And even if she did, she would not be looking up personal ads. But going home alone for her family’s summer reunion is an invitation for every single relative to butt into her personal life. She simply can’t handle another blind date with the butcher, the baker or the candlestick maker from her hometown. So when she finds the Craigslist ad for a boyfriend-for-hire, she’s ready to pay to play.

Heading Home and Need a Buffer? I’m the REAL DEAL.

Theo Banks has been running from the past for years. He’s this close to finally settling all his debts, and one more job as a boyfriend-for-hire will do the trick. He’s no gigolo. Please. He’s something of an actor, and he knows how to slip into any role, including pretending to be April’s new beau — the bad boy with the heart of gold.

Even if it means sleeping in close quarters in that tiny little bed in her parents’ inn. Even if it means spinning tales of a romance that starts to feel all too true. What neither one of them counts on is that amid the egg toss, the arm wrestling, and a fierce game of Lawn Twister that has them tangled up together, they might be feeling the real deal.

She only wanted to show her family once and for all that she had no need to settle down.

He didn’t expect to have the time of his life at her parent’s home.

They didn’t plan on loving every single second of the game.

But can a masterful game of pretend result in true love?

We are so excited to reveal the gorgeous cover of R.S. Grey’s next release, FORTUNATE ONES! This romantic comedy releases November 1st. See the cover and find out more about THE FORTUNATE ONES below!

At Twin Oaks Country Club, there are the fortunate ones, and then there are the rest of us: the waiters, the caddies, the valets, and in my case, the cabana girls. Most days, I’m poolside in a pleated skirt, dishing out margaritas to tycoons and titans. It’s not exactly my dream job, but it does come with one perk…

James Ashwood.

He’s my silver lining in a custom black suit.

Besides being a legacy member at the club, he’s a tech mogul and Austin’s most eligible bachelor. Oh, and those dimples? Yeah, they make my stomach dip too.

On good days, I catch his sleek Porsche winding down the tree-lined drive. On better days, I steal a glimpse of his handsome profile as we pass in the hall. And on the absolute best day, I find him alone at the bar, looking for company.

“Come have a seat.”

Those four little words set me down a path I never could have imagined. Private planes, penthouse suites, and temptations around every corner make it impossible to keep my distance. His world feels decadent and wild—but overindulgence comes with a cost. Every kiss comes with strings. Every erotic encounter is a promise I’m not ready to keep.

When I pump the brakes, he hits the gas. James doesn’t want to go slow—he wants a commitment.

And the thing about the fortunate ones?

They’re used to getting what they want.

My name is Helena Ross. I’ve written fifteen romance novels, ten of which have become international bestsellers. But this one isn’t a romance. This novel holds only the truth, which I have run away from for four years. The truth, which I have hidden from the police, from my loved ones, from the world.

And now it is time for my review:

My first thoughts after finishing The Ghostwriter was I really liked this book. It is almost surprising how much I liked this book. It’s not a romance though it is about a romance author. I don’t know if I would call it a suspense thriller either though it has thrilling aspects. I think I would actually say this story is about atonement. It is a story about love. It is a story about hate. But most of all, what make this story so interesting, it is a story about real people and all that entails. Because, people are ugly and beautiful all at the same time.
interesting more inside amy schumer i like it GIF

I would definitely classify Helena as the anti-hero. She does not sugar coat who she is. She is judgmental, tyrannical, and I might even go as far as saying she is sexist. She likes things her way. She has reasons for it but she does not trust or even like men. She is also grieving. She is also dying. She is also in her way trying to do the right thing in her last days on earth. At first I didn’t really like her. I was sad she was dying but Helena is such a hard character to like.

But, I was curious so very curious about what she did that was so wrong. I devoured the pages of this book. I stayed up all night because I just couldn’t put it down. I just had to find out what terrible thing could have happened that would make Helena do what she did and become the person she is at the beginning of this story. This story is a story of boy meets girl. They fall in love, have a baby and are supposed to live happily ever after, right. Wrong. Because, Helena lets you as the reader know right up front in the first couple of chapters this not a romance because there is no happily ever after. Instead this story of a woman atoning for her sins. I had to know what those sins where. After finishing this book, I am still not sure if I like Helena but I can say one she did end up making feel. Why? Because, Helena is what we humans all are and that is flawed individuals. Humans are not perfect. Humans make mistakes. Sometimes, humans are at the end of the day selfish. Humans do love and need companionship. Nobody should have to die alone. I definitely shed some tears for this tough as nails character that in the end really did feel like a real person to me. I can say this book is one those stories that will stick with me. I highly enjoyed reading it!

And now, an except from Mine for the Week:

Just like the night before, the moment traffic slowed to a crawl, Ryan paid the driver and jumped out of the cab. Electronic music throbbed in the air, and a steady stream of people flowed in the direction of the town square.

Once the stage came into view, he got his bearings. People around him thrashed and banged into each other like it was one giant mosh pit.

Sophie had sent a text about five minutes ago, letting him know where she was, so he stopped to reread it.

On San Gabriel, across the street from Hotel Abac, in the park. Standing right behind a bench.

Ryan pushed his way through the throng. The deeper in he got, the more worried he became. The square was jammed with people. Bodies pressed, slammed, and undulated together.

Imagining her alone in this crazy crowd, her curvy body in that red dress, got his blood pumping. If anyone touched her…He pushed through, trying to read the storefronts and finally spotted Hotel Abac.

He sent a quick text. I’m here. Wave or something.

Waving. Crowd’s insane.

His nerves fired up, and if he didn’t get to her soon, he’d start dropping bodies. Where the hell was she?

At the corner of San Gabriel and Monuments Boulevard, he stood on the base of a streetlamp to give him extra height. Every spot of red spiked his pulse.

A fluttering white scarf caught his attention, and once he saw it led to a red dress, he took off, shouldering people aside to get to her.

Finally, she was within his reach. He grabbed her hips from behind and hauled her up against him, immediately surrounded by her sweet, floral scent. She gasped, whipping around with fear in her eyes. But then she saw him, and happiness bloomed across her features. Her mouth moved, but he couldn’t hear a thing she said. Turning in his arms, she wrapped a hand around his neck and lifted up on her toes to bring her mouth to his ear. “I can’t believe you’re here.”

He didn’t know if she meant to, but her nose nuzzled his neck. Desire kicked him hard. He lowered his face into her hair, breathing her in, painfully aware of her lush body pressing against him and her hand on his neck, holding him close.

Desire streamed through him in a fierce, hot wave. He felt a shudder run through her, and then she looked up at him. She was so beautiful, and that mouth, so lush, so pink, was right there. Her expression turned heated, mirroring the same crazy need burning through him.

He kissed her. And the moment he pressed his mouth to hers, she squirmed against him, returning his kiss with equal fervor.

She made him hot and wild. His tongue licked into her mouth, his hands slid down the bare skin of her back to cup her perfect bottom. He’d missed her. He didn’t understand it—he certainly didn’t want to feel this way—but he was powerless to stop it.

Bodies knocked into him, causing him to tighten his hold. He kissed her more deeply, needing more of the slick heat of her mouth, the slow, seductive tangle of her tongue.

She grabbed a fistful of hair at the back of his neck. Her hips pushed up hard against him, and the kiss turned voracious.

I hope you enjoyed the excerpt and entered the giveaway, now it is time for my review.

I am going to keep this review short and sweet just like Mine For The Week. I will start this review by stating the obvious. I really liked this book. It was a bit angsty but it was that good kind of angsty that happens when people are figuring out what they want to do for the rest of their live. Everyone thinks once a person graduates college their whole lives will fall into place now. In reality, as Sophie and Ryan, discover sometimes life doesn’t work like that. Sometimes what you thought wanted for your life is not what you needed.  Sometimes, a whirlwind romance that happens over spring break can actually be the best thing that happens to two people.

Yes, this book is a bit cheesy but in the best way. I liked how this story is about two people learning it is okay to shake things up. It is okay to question what you thought wanted and the reasons why. It is okay to stop doing what everyone thinks you should do and start doing what you want to do. I liked the romance between Ryan and Sophie because they had no idea if the new dreams they were chasing would work or fail. In life, it is never too late to chase dreams especially if you have someone at your side that will catch you if you fall. I really enjoy a romance when I truly believe that the characters will be there for each other until the end. Plus, I thought the chemistry between Ryan and Sophie was fan your face hot.  I mean what is there not to like about a guy with movie star good looks wanting to make the woman of dreams very happy.

sexy supernatural dean winchester jensen ackles present GIF

I can honestly say after reading the first book about Ryan’s sister finding love. Now, falling into some major swooning while I read about Ryan finding the love of his life. I am developing a serious soft spot for the O’Donnell siblings. I can’t wait to read about the next sibling finding love and happiness.

The members of a top secret SEAL Team can't keep their passion under wraps in this thrilling contemporary romantic suspense series from New York Times bestselling author Monica McCarty.

Like Rome's Lost Legion, a SEAL platoon goes on a mission and vanishes without a trace.

After walking into a trap on a covert op in Russia, the men from top secret SEAL Team Nine are presumed dead. Not knowing whom they can trust, and with war hanging in the balance, the survivors must go dark and scatter around the globe.

Marine ecologist Annie Henderson joins her new boyfriend on a trip to the Western Isles of Scotland to protest a hazardous offshore drilling venture. When she realizes that she may be swept up in something far more dangerous than she'd intended, there is only one man she can turn to. . . .

She and the mysterious but sexy dive boat captain haven't exactly gotten off to the best start, but something about his quiet confidence makes her think that he's the kind of man she can depend on. Because he's gruff and guarded, she can tell Dan Warren has secrets. But she could never imagine how high the stakes are for him to keep his cover, even as he risks everything to protect her. . . .

What can I say about Going Dark after finally getting through it? Well, Going Dark is not a bad story but it definitely wasn’t a fantastic story.  Going Dark was just an okay story.

Good Girls Revolt season 1 okay amazon video amazon originals GIF

It is one of those military A-Team type stories I have read quite a few times. A platoon goes missing or is blamed when something goes on a mission. In the case of Going Dark it is they go “missing” and it is assumed they were all killed in action. All is not right on the mission and the survivors must go into hiding. So, Dean aka Dan is hiding out in Scotland working on a charter boat. That is how he comes across Annie. Annie has to come to Scotland with her boyfriend Julien and his friends. They hire Dean’s charter boat as part of a plan to protest the oil drilling that is going on off the coast of Scotland. Somehow, Annie finds out her boyfriend Julien betrayed her and is tangled up in some seriously dangerous stuff. Now, Annie is on the run with the hot sea boat captain Dan aka Navy Seal in hiding Dean.

Sadly, I thought this book was going to better than it was. I felt like I was reading this book forever. It was just a middle of the road book with pockets of grab you by the seat of your pants action. My biggest complaint was how freaking long it to get the ball rolling in this story. I think it was about 25% before they were on the run and that is when things really took off both chemistry and plot wise. I will say that I did like chemistry between Dean and Annie. The sexy fun times were definitely sexy. There were definitely a few times I had to fan my face.

AwesomenessTV hot awesomenesstv sweaty joffrey elite GIF

Going Dark did have a lot of action that kept my attention towards the end. I just felt like there was something missing though. I wanted more from the overall plot that will be running through this series. The only thing anyone ever says including Dean himself about why they are all in hiding is that “it’s too dangerous and a need to know situation”. I felt like as the reader we should be privy to those need to know secrets. I need more as far Annie and Dean were concerned too. There were just a lot of open ended questions and not many answers.   The only answer we get as the reader is that the mystery of week gets tied up nicely. Mostly I just felt like, I just sat through 325 pages and I needed more from this story. I will admit that I am kind of invested in this story now so I will probably be picking up the next book in the series. I need to know what is going with why the SEAL team was ambushed and who wants them dead. I need more and hopefully I will get it in the next book.

I write about love, but I’ve never experienced it. Sure, I’ve been with guys that I cared about. Even thought I found ‘the one’. He turned out to be the frog and not the prince.

A few Frank Sinatra songs and a wildly handsome cowboy who calls me Darlin’, will have me second guessing everything I ever thought I knew about love.

Does happily ever after really exist…or is it only something I write about in books?

[Review] The Time in Between by Kristen Ashley

[Review] The Time in Between by Kristen AshleyThe Time in Between by Kristen Ashley
Series: Magdalene #3
Published by Self Published by Author on August 29, 2017
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Small Town
Pages: 563
After a painful loss, Cady Moreland is coming to Magdalene to start the next chapter of her life. A chapter that began eighteen years ago but had a heartbreaking ending. The time in between was full of family and friendship, but Cady could never get the man she fell in love with all those years ago out of her heart.

Coert Yeager has learned to live without the girl who entered his life right when she shouldn’t and exited delivering a crippling blow he never would have suspected. The time in between was full of failing to find what he was missing…and life-altering betrayal.

But when that girl shows up in Magdalene and buys the town’s beloved lighthouse, even if Coert wants to avoid her, he can’t. A fire in town sparks a different kind of flame that won’t be ignored.

As Cady and Coert question the actions of the two young adults they once were thrown into earth-shattering circumstances, can they learn from what came in between and find each other again?

In the past two years I have become a huge Kristen Ashely fan.  I am not surprised that I didn’t just love this book.  I freaking loved this book!!!

love amor sailor moon heart eyes lov GIF

So, I am going to keep this review short and sweet to keep the gushing at a minimum.  The Time in Between was like Persuasion but done Kristen Ashley style.  Meaning it was about an alpha male that doesn’t like games.  And, a woman who is looking for her happily ever after.  Things are rocky in the beginning because they have a lot of baggage from the time in between.  Though, they never stopped loving each other.  It may have taken eighteen years to get there but they discover it is never too late for second chances.

I loved the road to their happily ever after.  It was filled with so many feels my heart aches in a good way.  I cried sad tears.  I cried happy tears.  I swooned and I laughed.  Most of all I just enjoyed the story of Cady and Coert finding their way back to each other.  My favorite part was when Coert quoted Johnny Cash when Johnny Cash was asked about his idea of paradise, “This morning, with her, having coffee.”  I thought that was such a beautiful moment.  Sometimes it is so easy to get caught up in your own personal ride on the roller coaster of life. It easy to get lost in the highs and lows of life: raising kids,  job promotions, losing a job, or god forbid losing a loved one.  Sometimes, though,  if you take a moment to really look around it is the small moments with people you love the most that make the ride of life become a ride through paradise because that is when you realize you are not going it alone.  I loved that
Cady and Coert found that and while reading their story I was able to experience that beautiful moment again and again.

I will say it again, I loved this book!!!  I loved the full circle of love.  I loved getting to find out what happened to characters from prior books even my favorite Rock Chicks.  I even loved how Kristen Ashley brought the characters back into this story.  It was done in a way that you get to meet them know they are together but there are not any spoilers about their road to happily ever after.  Mostly though, I just love that this story was about second chances.  Even if you are 23, 43, or 63 as long as you are still breathing it is never too late to chase your dreams and make your happily ever after come true.   I will say it again because it needs repeating, I loved Coert and Cady’s road to happily ever after and all the feels along the way.

I think Reed and Ella are and always be my favorite characters. I have always thought Easton was a self-absorbed entitled jerk. Sure, he connected with Ella and became someone she could trust and a brother she never had. But, Easton has addiction issues that stem from mental health issues. He needs professional help. I am not saying that as a negative thing. I am saying that as someone who struggles with mental health issues. It takes a lot of courage and maturity to admit when you need help to deal mental health issues. Those are two traits Easton does not have in this story. He is not some loveable misunderstood character. He is not some character that has been dealt a bad hand and with a little TLC everything will be all better. Easton is a character that has major issues. He is an alcoholic who never learned to cope with the grief of his mother’s death. He is also entitled and thinks the world revolves around his whims and desires. No, I don’t like Easton but I am not sure I am meant to like Easton at this point in his life.

Sometimes, sadly, it can take hitting rock bottom before a person realizes they need to seek out help for mental health issues. I did like that the authors don’t sugar coat the addiction. They don’t sugar coat the feelings of entitlement. They don’t sugar coat the consequences these two things can cause. I like that Easton is kind of anti-hero. You are supposed to think he is jerk. You are supposed to think he is self-absorbed. He is also sweet. He is also caring. He has many shades to his personality because he is human. We as humans struggle, make mistakes, and in the end try to carry on. Some of us like Easton need help to carry on because we are too afraid to heal the festering wounds of the past. In the end, I liked that Easton felt like a real person.

My only complaint about the story was I did feel that some of this book was a little slow paced for my tastes. Again, that is just me being a nitpicker, I think it moved a little slow because it took me awhile to connect with Easton and his story. I liked that the entire story was from Easton’s POV. I think it really helped to connect with his character. I definitely liked him better when I knew where he was coming from. When I knew there were times when he didn’t even like himself but didn’t know how to change. I definitely can’t read book two. Because, nobody does a cliffhanger quite like Erin Watt. I have my fingers crossed for Easton in the book. By the end of this book my heart was really feeling the feels.
