[Audiobook Review] The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine

I tried to read this book several times and just never could get into it. I mean I really tried. I feel like I have been reading this book for forever. I felt like if I could just get into then I wouldn’t have to DNF it so I put it on the back burner for a while. So, I decided to go ahead and use an audible credit and give The Shadow Queen another chance. I can say I am proud of myself for finishing The Shadow Queen this time. This audiobook felt like it took forever to get… Read more »

I really liked the first book in this series, Snow Like Ashes. I liked the tension between Meria and her two potential loves. I liked that love was on a back burner to the real issues that Meria was dealing with, saving her people and restoring her kingdom. Snow Like Ashes was filled with intrigue and so much action that I read the book in one day. I have to say Ice Like Fire just lacked the fire that made me fall in so much like, like I did with Snow Like Ashes. I didn’t hate Ice Like Fire it… Read more »

OMG I freaking loved this book! Dumplin’ is one of those books I want to sing it’s praises from the highest roof.     Dumplin’ is like a fresh breath of air that entered my life. I loved getting to read about a heroine that is a fat girl and is able to find happiness still as a fat girl. Willowdean doesn’t go through some amazing body transformation and by the end of book all her dreams come true. The story is about a fat girl that falls in some serious like with a boy but feels like she can’t… Read more »

I got this book from EW and I tried to read it. I soon discovered that I just could not get into this story so I decided to wait for the audiobook. I bought the audiobook and picked up right where I had left off but this time listening instead. My final verdict for the sequel to Get Even called Get Dirty is: this is an okay book that at first I was like meh but the ending saved it. I am giving Get Dirty three stars because it is the kind of read that just get a shrug for being… Read more »

[ARC Review] The Cage by Megan Shepherd

When I finished this book the first thought I had was a feeling of accomplishment. Why? I had a really really really hard time getting into this book at first. It started with five teenagers waking up in a place and having no idea of who they were there or who put them there in the first place. I felt just as confused, as a reader,  because the book kept jumping around from so many points of view and all of them told in third person point of view. I just found it hard to keep up with and at some points,… Read more »

[ARC Review] Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch

Snow Like Ashes is the kind of book that sucks you in and doesn’t let go until the very last word. Or at least that was true for me. After I read the last word I knew this was a book I was going to want to share with all my friends and family. Why? Because it had it all: kissing, epic battles, and of course a heroine out for vengeance. I know this sounds similar to other books out there because it seems everyone is hopping on the epic fantasy bandwagon, but believe me this book does not disappoint… Read more »

Slavery, lost princesses, ghoulish assassins, and a somewhat half assembled love triangle, this book was full to the brim with interesting characters, world building and excitement. I loved every minute of it and drew out my consumption of the book in order to make it last longer. Nalia is a jinni. She was captured and sold as a slave, bound to a master, Malek, by an iron bottle. She belongs to him until he makes three wishes. Unfortunately for her, he refuses to offer his third wish. Instead, he makes plenty of effort to woo her. Nalia is, of course,… Read more »

[Arc Review] Cruel Beauty

Cruel Beauty is yet another foray into the sub-genre of fairy tale retellings. Authors expound upon a set story and shape it to their desires. These stories always bring something exciting to the table, whether they’re set in the future with space travel and androids like The Lunar Chronicles or are a modern day retelling of the Persephone myth like the Everneath series. In this instance, we have a retelling of Beauty and the Beast that is set in the land of Arcadia. There is a Grecian flair attached to everything in this book. It’s interesting, considering the other Beauty… Read more »
