I knew I was going to listen to Wanderlust for two reasons. Number one: I like Lauren Blakely’s style of writing.  She writes such witty touching romances.  Number two: it is co-narrated by Richard Armitage. I have loved Richard Armitage ever since I watched the British BBC miniseries, North and South. I am so glad I picked up this audiobook because it didn’t disappoint in story and in narration. I loved Grace Grant and her portrayal of Joy. She added a sense vulnerability to the character. Needless to say, I loved Richard Armitage’s portrayal of Griffin. I am not too… Read more »

I know this unrelated to this review but I just wanted to share a challenge that I have been trying out. This year I am going to read more outside of my go to genre, romance. I am going to try to read at least one or more horror, mystery or thriller book a month. This month for my thriller/horror read I decided to pick up Bird Box. Please don’t get me wrong in this review, I liked the story. I definitely, appreciate what the author was trying to do writing a world that is based on the fear of… Read more »

I really, really and I mean I really liked Stillhouse Lake. I liked it so much that I now have quite a few people in my office at work reading Stillhouse Lake right now. So, it should be no surprise, I was super excited to read the sequel Killman Creek. Killman Creek took off right where the Stillhouse Lake left off. Gwen is on the run and searching for her ex-husband now that he has escaped prison. With the help of Sam, Gwen decides to go after him. Of course, that is what you do when you don’t want to… Read more »

I am big fan of A.G. Howard’s Splintered Series. When I saw The Architect of Song was now available on audiobook I bought it and started listening to it right then. I was not disappointed by this audiobook. I really enjoy a good audiobook that can distract me from the frustrations of say traffic while I am driving in my car. It is definitely the type of audiobook that is a great escape from the monotony of my day. The Architect of Song is a gothic romance that swept me right up into the story and I enjoyed every minute… Read more »

There are two things that I will always watch or read about: Victorian London and Jack the Ripper. When I saw the synopsis for Stalking the Jack Ripper I was like sign me up because I am definitely reading that book! I was sold on this book by the synopsis alone, I mean who doesn’t want to read about a young woman of society bucking tradition to become a female forensic scientist. Her first case study just happens to be the Jack the Ripper. I thought I couldn’t want to read this anymore than I already did then they released… Read more »

[Review] Unknown by Wendy Higgins

There is something truly terrifying about an apocalypse setting that scares and fascinates me at the same time.  I think Wendy Higgins did a good job of building a truly scary world in Unknown.  I finished this book in two days.  I only put it down to sleep.  Even when I put the book down I still kept think about how frightening this book actually was.     Unknown starts out like any other contemporary love story.  A girl grows up with her brother and his best friend.  Then the brother’s best friend becomes her friend as well.  Of course,… Read more »

[Review] Defending Taylor by Miranda Kenneally

I just have to say Defending Taylor didn’t disappoint. I read this book in one day. It is one of those short breezy books that grab you and don’t let go until the end.       I once heard someone I think it was another adult, say they didn’t like read because the parents are never around or they look stupid. I didn’t know what to say to that because it is true the parents are hardly ever around in YA. You know what I say now: so what. Even in Gilmore Girls Rory had to go off on… Read more »

[Audiobook Review] The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine

I tried to read this book several times and just never could get into it. I mean I really tried. I feel like I have been reading this book for forever. I felt like if I could just get into then I wouldn’t have to DNF it so I put it on the back burner for a while. So, I decided to go ahead and use an audible credit and give The Shadow Queen another chance. I can say I am proud of myself for finishing The Shadow Queen this time. This audiobook felt like it took forever to get… Read more »

First off I have to say, oh man, this book was good.  A coworker of mine asked me what this book was about the other day.  I said it was a coming of age with some romance thrown in.  She said it sounded predictable.  You know what that is not bad thing.  I like that this book was predictable and I knew that no matter what happened in between the heroine was going to make it through. The Problem With Forever is about a girl named Mallory and Mallory has had really tragic past.  She was a foster kid who… Read more »

The first thing I said when I finished this audiobook was, “thank goodness I made it to the end”. So, I first tried to pick up The Marked Girl when I received a copy from the publisher about a month ago.  Sadly, I just couldn’t get into this book so I put it to the side.  Then when I saw the audiobook was on Audible, I was like perfect now I can have someone read it to me. I was hoping maybe that would make my reading experience go faster. Again sadly that wasn’t the case. Amanda Dolan the narrator… Read more »
