I am big fan of Maya Rodale’s historical romance novels. When I saw this book up for review, I just knew I had to read it. I was definitely not disappointed. It was just like in a good historical romance: cute cheesiness, kisses galore, and swoony lords. Plus this story is a Pride and Prejudice retelling with a handsome Darcy in a wet shirt.     Lady Bridget’s Diary was just the kind of read I searching for, meaning it is a light fluffy romance. The story is a Pride and Prejudice retelling so I don’t think I need to… Read more »

I have been told over again throughout my life that I have an old soul. Growing up I was not the preteen that was too cool for school. I was the girl that rented all the classic black and white movies from the video store. One of my favorite classics was The Philadelphia Story. It was a movie about a man trying to win back the love of his ex-wife. The thing I loved most about this movie was the witty repartee between the main characters. I loved the fast talking wit that would have me laughing hysterically. When I… Read more »

I read the first book in this series last year and I adored it. I don’t know what happened because I was sure I would love watching the Aurelia and Max fall in love because I loved their bickering in A Good Debutante’s Guide to Ruin. If love is a battlefield then All the Ways to Ruin a Rogue felt like it was ripe with land mines. One minute the couple is fighting, then next they are kissing, then they are fighting again, then next they not speaking to each other, then they are kissing again and on and on… Read more »

I’ve been mostly reading fantasy and science fiction for the better part of the year. I felt it was time to sink my teeth into some Historical Romance. I do love a bit of HR here and there. It’s so fluffy and wonderful. Granted, I usually read from the likes of Maya Banks, and she’s old hat at writing romance. She knows just when to switch gears to keep the story interesting. Lauren Smith’s first book, Wicked Designs, suffered from a lack of interesting pacing. A lot of the story involved stubbornness on behalf of the heroine, but didn’t intersperse… Read more »

I am going to admit something, I like happy endings and the feeling I get when I have been swept up in the throes of a good romance. I am not ashamed to admit this. I really liked A Good Debutante’s Guide to Ruin because it was sweet, sexy, and swept me away. The book starts off with Rosalie Hughes when she is quite literally left on the doorstep of her estranged step brother’s house, the Duke of Branbury. Rosalie has nowhere else to go because her mother left her at finishing school way past the appropriate age. Declan, out… Read more »
